COUNTRY WINE

Amateur country wines are made traditionally from ingredients grown or collected in the British countryside or garden.
They range from light, dry flower wines, such as hawthorn blossom and elderflower, to full bodied, sweet fruit wines, such as elderberry or damson, and cover a wide range of alcoholic strengths.
They may be entered as ‘Wine by Ingredient’ types if they are sufficiently characteristic of the particular named ingredient, but very often they fit into the social wine category.
The wines should be judged according to the requirements of the particular class in which they are entered.
